(Aug. 15, 2020) As school districts across the State prepared to start the 2020/21 school year, they were coming up with innovative ideas to meet COVID-19 safety guidelines and the mandates of their local school boards and public health agencies. Some of the ideas involve changing spaces and rooms within school buildings or adding partitions or other means to separate class cohorts.

Justice Funding Held up by Federal Administration is Finally Available for Colorado Organizations
(June 8, 2020) Local victims services programs, justice organizations, and law enforcement can now begin accessing $5.5 million in 2018 and 2019 federal grants that they have been waiting for due to restrictions that the Trump Administration had placed on the grant funding.
In 2018, the State of Colorado was awarded $2.7 million in federal funding for public safety through a program known as the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. In 2019, Colorado was awarded $2.8 million of these funds.

CDPS Releases Elkhorn Creek Unit #4 Prescribed Fire Review Summary
(March 2, 2020) - The Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) Compliance and Professional Standards Office held a public meeting with the Livermore and Glacier View communities on March 1to discuss the main findings from a review of the Elkhorn Creek Unit #4 Prescribed Fire, which escaped and became a wildfire on Oct. 16, 2019.
CDPS plans to release a full report on the review and its findings within the next two weeks.
Division of Criminal Justice Publishes 5th Annual Officer-involved Shooting Report
(Jan. 27, 2020) - The Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) Office of Research and Statistics has published its fifth annual Report of Officer Involved Shootings in Colorado pursuant to Senate Bill 15-217.
The report documents findings based on officer-involved shootings that occurred during a nine-and-a-half-year period between Jan. 1, 2010, and June 30, 2019.
Updates on Investigations into Suspicious Drone Activity in NE Colorado
(Jan. 13, 2020) - On Jan. 10, 11 and 12, the Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) continued field investigations into reports of suspicious drone activity in northeastern Colorado. The investigations involved both air and ground-based resources deployed during the evening to search for suspicious activity and to respond to suspicious drone reports.
