Rule Changes to 8CCR 1507-29 Evidence Collection in Connection with Sexual Assaults

On Aug. 8, 2022, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will hold a virtual rulemaking hearing regarding proposed changes to rules related to evidence collection in connection with sexual assaults.

8 CCR 1507-29: Rules and Regulations Concerning Minimum Standards for the Operation of Commercial Vehicles ("Motor Carrier Safety Rules)

The CBI is proposing to amend the rules to reflect two changes beyond the control of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation:

  1. The lab accrediting authority referenced in the original rules no longer exists, so the rules must be updated to remove reference to that agency
  2.  Colorado statute changed to specify the age range of sexual assault victims who may withdraw their consent for evidence collection and forensic evidence, so the rules need to be updated to align with statute.

In order to enable statewide participation, this rulemaking hearing will be a virtual meeting held on the Zoom platform, allowing attendance via phone and/or video conference.
