Proposed Rule Changes to 8CCR 1507-11 Fire Suppression

On Aug. 10, 2022, the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control will hold a virtual rulemaking hearing regarding proposed changes to rules related to fire suppression rules.

8 CCR 1507-11: Rules and Regulations Concerning Fire Suppression

On June 17, 2022, DFPC adopted amended emergency rules for Fire Suppression; this hearing will be to provide stakeholder input on permanent rulemaking for those amended rules. The purpose of this rule change is to:

  • Allow an exemption to Rule 5.4.3 to provide fire sprinkler fitter renewal applicants an extension on the deadline to pass required exams, in recognition of the limited certified testing options currently available.
  • Create a separate contractor and inspector category for pre-manufactured housing that is being constructed out-of-state and transported into Colorado for final construction, in order to ensure this type of housing is able to meet Colorado standards for fire suppression systems.
  • Complete  general clean-up of grammatical and formatting inconsistencies or errors.

Virtual Public Hearing

In order to enable statewide participation, this rulemaking hearing will be a virtual meeting held on the Zoom platform, allowing attendance via phone and/or video conference. Registration in advance is required in order to attend the hearing.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
