(Feb. 7, 2019) --The Office for Victims Programs (OVP) within the Division of Criminal Justice has announced a new, $2 million grant program to help Colorado non-profits access legal resources to help them address identified, specific legal issues related to crime victimization.
The new Colorado Civil Justice Corp (CCJC) Grant Program is an initiative of the Civil Legal Services for Crime Victims Special Project. In partnership with the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, OVP will administer approximately $2 million in federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Program funds for the implementation of the new grant program. The grant funds will pay for the cost of placing recent University of Denver Sturm College of Law graduates with selected host organizations for a two-year fellowship term to work on an identified and specific civil legal issue related to crime victimization.
Applications are being accepted from nonprofit organizations interested in hosting up to two civil legal fellows as part of the CCJC program. The fellowship program is designed to increase the delivery of civil legal services to crime victims in Colorado. Host sites are expected to identify a supervisor for each fellow, supervisors must meet regularly with the fellow to offer feedback, share resources, and provide guidance to assist in providing quality civil legal services for crime victims.
The deadline to submit applications is Tuesday, Feb.19, at 11:59 p.m.
